Mirza Baber Beg is an International Financier, having spent the last 19 years in various capacities of which the first 13 years were in Global Investment Banking. Currently, he focuses on Alternative Investments Sector (Venture Capital, Hedge Funds and Principal Investing) using his family office funds and also works with a number of institutional investors and other family offices globally. The other main area of focus is on building businesses and financing projects; Mr. Beg's industry expertise includes technology & communications, energy (electricity, gas and alternative), consumer products, Media and Real Estate.


In the area of alternative investments; Mr Beg is a Venture Partner with the London and New Delhi offices of ePlanetVentures which is among the leading global venture capital funds focusing on innovation. Also, he is a Board Director and Investor at the Hudson Fairfax Group, HFG is a Washington based investment firm focused on sponsoring and promoting emerging market related investments, the HFG India Continuum Fund is a hedge fund which focuses on publicly traded equities of Indian companies and other securities. Presently, they are establishing the HFG Landmark Fund, focusing on Hospitality and Real Estate.

In the area of building businesses and principal investing; Mr Beg co-founded Carron Energy in the UK, which was involved with the turnaround and building of power generation plants; In April 2006 this business was successfully sold to an investment company backed by Deutsche Bank AG. He is a co-founder of Amazon Energy which is involved with developing power generation facilities in Emerging Markets. Also, Mr Beg is a co-founder of WTBL (WorldTel Bangladesh), a full-service Telecommunications company in South Asia. He is also an investor and developer in various residential projects in the UK and globally. Mr Beg supports the Media and Arts in the UK and is the Chairman of Monkey Pictures which is involved in a number of European Film Assets. Mr Beg is also Chairman of Zenith Commodities in the UK, which looks at mining and minerals extraction in Africa and South-East Asian.

As an investment Banker, Mr. Beg was previously a Director at Barclays Capital, where he was involved in corporate and project finance, Securitisation and Derivatives. Before that he was at SBC Warburg focusing on Derivatives Risk Management and started his banking career at Deutsche Bank in 1989 where he focused on Structured Finance and Treasury.

Mr. Beg graduated from University College London with a B.Sc. (Honors) in Civil & Structural Engineering, obtained a post-graduate degree in Computer Systems Analysis, Design and Development, and attended the Investment Management Program and the Corporate Finance Program at the London Business School.
Since 1993 Mr Beg is active with a number of charities in the UK involved with emergency humanitarian assistance around the world in areas of natural and man made disaster and education, also, Mr Beg sits on a UNICEF Fund raising Committee in London.
